Posted by Surprise visit to Dr Arruda
Friday morning August 7th, a group of activists from the MUHC and several other Montreal unions paid a surprise visit to DR Arruda who came to Montreal to meet with the CEOs of Montreal’s CHU, CIUSSS and CISSS. A meeting that was supposed to take place away from the media and public attention.
We were there to make our demands heard:
– The same bonuses for all job titles in the health care sector
– 3$ per hour in 2020
– 1 per hour or 3%, whichever is more advantageous for the years 2021 and 2022.
These increases must apply to all job titles.
Our colleagues also chanted slogans calling for Personal Protective Equipment in sufficient numbers, starting with the N-95 masks, which are still not available in sufficient numbers after three and a half months of crisis.
What we need are N-95 masks, gowns, gloves for anyone with any job title who works in yellow or red zones. Health and safety is crucial, otherwise it is our health care workers who are contaminating colleagues and patients.
