The MUHC cuts 18 positions and abolishes 57 vacant positions. Anyone affected by the loss of their position should contact the union office.
This bad decision is part of the 1.5 billion in cuts decided by the government through Santé Québec. These cuts affect our jobs and services to the public. As if by “chance”, the government is not calling into question the countless subcontracts, all of which, without exception, cost more than the services offered by our members.
What’s more, to date, 775 doctors in Quebec have disaffiliated from the public network and gone into private practice, compared with 7 in the other 9 Canadian provinces.[1]
Clearly, since the Couillard-Barrette era, Quebec governments have acted to favour the private sector, while allowing public services to deteriorate.
The MUHCEU-CSN strongly denounces these service cuts, which affect our members and the public. We denounce the CAQ, which prefers to keep and even increase the work entrusted to the private sector, to the detriment of services, our jobs and the quality of care.
This same government is not even capable of honouring its commitments to respect the collective agreement and pay the sums due under the pay equity settlement.
The MUHCEU-CSN denounces the fact that, once again, budget cuts are affecting our clerical and service employees in particular.
We join our colleagues in other healthcare institutions in protesting against all service cuts and demanding a radical change in policy to favor public services, not the interests of private groups motivated solely by profit.
